Location

Ideally located south of the Larzac causse, 20 minutes from Millau, 1 hour from Sète and Montpellier and on the road to Spain, the Rockastel café-auberge is the place to go with friends or family to discover historic sites, breathtaking natural sites and enjoy outdoor sports, or simply to stop off. The Templar and Hospitaller circuit, the Millau viaduct, the Abeil cirque, the Navacelle cirque, the Tarn, Jonte, Dourbie and Vis gorges, the Aven Armand and Dargilan caves. Heading further south, towards Montpellier or Bézier, you'll pass through the historic town of Lodeve, the Salagou lake and the Herault gorges.

A gourmet break

The Auberge du Rockastel is the ideal stopover for your weekend or holiday. Between the plains of the Hérault and the Aveyron, the stopover village of Le Caylar has always been a resting place for travellers to eat, relax and unwind.

Situated on the sunny village square, close to the legendary carved elm tree, the Auberge du Rockastel is also a well-known stop-off point for hikers, cyclists and motorcyclists.

At the foot of the historic village, a path leads to the ruins of a 12th-century castle, built into the rock and dominated by a small chapel and a spectacular panoramic viewpoint.

Suggested dishes

The dishes change with the seasons, the mood and the arrival of produce.
Every lunchtime, we offer a menu of the day with two starters, three main courses, including a vegetarian dish, and three desserts.

In the evening, we offer an à la carte choice.
Here are a few examples of our dishes, all made with produce from the farm and accompanied by seasonal vegetables cooked in the oven
- duck sausage with mashed potatoes
- duck confit, small potatoes in parsley sauce
- roast guinea fowl with chanterelle mushrooms
- slow-cooked veal, beef or pork roasts
- Gourmet vegetarian salad full of flavour (tomatoes, quinoa, hummus, avocado, grated carrots and other seasonal vegetables, fresh herbs: basil, coriander, spring onions)
- a generous selection of charcuterie and local ewe's milk cheeses
- country terrines, poultry rillettes
- herrings with apples in oil
- Bouzigues oysters
- in summer, plates of tomato basil, guacamole and prosciutto melon,
- homemade desserts: flaune, red fruit cheesecake, mango mascarpone, caramel cream, chocolate fondant, seasonal fruit tart...
- a menu of homemade sorbets and ice creams

The price of the menu and à la carte is very reasonable.
And if you've enjoyed your meal, you can take away a few bottles, honey, jams or authentic dishes cooked in jars selected by our inn's grocery shop.
